ACRP Honors Retired Representative Ronny
Townsend for Years of Service
Election 2004
My favorite quote comes from Sheriff Crenshaw: "Isn't it a
great to be a Republican!"
Tuesday turned out to be the biggest day for Republicans in Anderson and South
Carolina in recent history. Our get out the vote efforts paid off with huge
dividends.
Here are some facts about Anderson County:
1. Straight party voters accounted for 39.28% in Anderson County. A total
of 25,718 voters. 57.20% of that total went for Republicans. Republican straight
party voters in Anderson outnumbered Dems by 4,538. This last number is huge
Jacky Hunter won by 1,817 votes.
2. President George W. Bush got 66.99% of the vote.
3. Jim DeMint got 61.88% of the vote.
4. Kevin Bryant got 63.49% of the vote. Senator Billy O'Dell got 60.14% of the
vote. Rep. Becky Martin got 85.19% of the vote. Rep. Michael D. Thompson got
64.24% of the vote.
5. Michael G. Thompson got 66.33% of the vote. David Crenshaw got 58.07% of the
vote. Jacky Hunter got 51.45% of the vote.
This was made possible because of the "hundreds" of volunteer hours, making over
15,000 phone calls and knocking on over 5,000 doors, distributing over 9,000
Times Examiners, manning the headquarters, and distributing campaign signs all
over the county.
It was amazing! A big thanks needs to go to the College Republicans at AC,
Clemson and Southern Wesleyan. Without them we would have not been so
successful.
